How do I recover a partition on windows 7 that has turned into unallocated space

How do I recover a partition on windows 7 that has turned into unallocated space？I was trying to install windows 7 on my pc but when I restarted from a fail install. My Drive D: disappeared and is now unallocated space how do i recover it or get the data off of it.
